SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Kevin Delaney has submitted his resignation as Airport Manager, effective January
14. Kevin has done a very good job for the City and will be missed.
In the past there has been much discussion about the focus of the position: should it be more of a management position
or more of a maintenance and snow removal position. Obviously, both elements will be required to some degree. The Airport Advisory Committee discussed the job description and their expectations
for the position at their meeting on January 6. The AAC proposed some minor revisions to the job description, but was generally satisfied with the current responsibilities for the position.
Attached is the current job description.
I would like to involve both the AAC and the Council in the selection process.
What is the Council’s desire for this position? Is the Council
in agreement with the AAC that the position should be primarily a management and leadership position at the airport, with snow removal and maintenance as a secondary responsibility?
RECOMMENDED
ACTION:
Provide direction regarding the Council’s priorities for the Airport Manager position and the Council’s desired role in the recruitment and selection process.
