Police Personnel Board
Minutes- January 20, 2022
The meeting was called to order at 12:02 p.m.
There were eight people present as follows:

Approval of December 2, 2021 minutes
There was a motion by Backues and seconded by Fleischmann to approve the December 2, 2021 board
meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Next Meeting Date
The next meeting is scheduled for February 3, 2022.
Old Business
Lt. Stiefermann gave an update on general testing. There were 33 applicants for police officer. Fifteen
showed up for testing. Nine tested, and six passed. There are 11 police officer openings. Two animal
control officers have been hired.
New Business
Lt. Stiefermann and Lt. Williams updated the committee on the new hiring incentives for police officers
and communications personnel. Officers can receive up to $10,000 extra in the first year if they are post
certified and communications can receive up to $5,000 in the first year if they have prior 9-1-1
experience. Officers who lack certification and communications personnel who lack experience would
not receive as much of an incentive.
Begin Closed Session
There was a motion by Fleischmann with a second by Backues to go into closed session at 12:22 p.m.
pursuant to RSMo. 610.021. The roll call vote was as follows:
Burton- yes Fleischmann- yes Backues- yes Scruggs- yes Shoun-yes
End Closed Session
There was a motion by Backues with a second by Fleischmann to come out of closed session at
approximately 12:43 p.m. The motion passed by the following roll call vote:
Burton-yes Fleishmann- yes Backues- yes Scruggs- yes Shoun- yes
This was followed by a motion to adjourn by Backues with a second by Scruggs. The motion passed on
voice vote.
