Meeting Minutes of 4-8-13
The Parks and Recreation Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Driscoll on Monday, April 8,
2013 at 7:00 PM. Brian Eberlin, Dan Terry, Brian O’Keefe, Bob Dobinski, Jennifer Floyd, Laura
Poovakad and Michael Curtin were present.

Action Items to follow up from 3-25-13
Invite HLAX, HYS, LL, AYF/AYC, GIRLS LAX to 4/22 meeting
Meeting Minutes from 3-25-13 Approved as Amended
Sandy Beach
Parks and Rec Commission voted 3-0 for Aldore Tetrault & Sons as contractors
Parks and Rec Comission signed notice to proceed
Parks and Rec Comission voted 3-0 to empower Jennifer Floyd to sign off and
expedite funds AFTER checking with engineer
Will take 85 days to build (prefab building), drainage, rock wall, recondition trailer. Plan
to finish 6/28 and open beach Saturday 6/29.
Garden Club for Community Garden
Constance Charters presented synopsis of 2012 season and brought up issues.
Garden club requested a permanent fence but Commission is not ready to do that as we
need another year of learning.
Parks and Rec will
o Move water spigot inside the garden for easier access
o Will put up a better fence instead of netting
o Will create flyers to be handed out at Plan Sale in May.
Marathon
Vendors are set.
There is no tent for entertainment
Need follow up presentation after Marathon is over from Brian Eberlin
Parks and Rec will give Brian Eberlin permits. Police department will provide parking
permits.

Chairman’s Report:
Fruit Street Parking Issue
Grass in front of turf being ruined by people not using side walk. People parking any
where and not following signs. People bringing their dogs.
Parks and Rec will
o Rope off grass area in front of turf so the grass can grow (through May).
o Talk to Soccer and LAX, asking them to notify parents/players to stay off grass
during growing season, park in designated spaces, and reiterate that no dogs are
allowed.
o Contact Chief Flannery about showing a presence on the next busy weekend and
issuing warnings.
o Looking into getting another Gate access point on the fence around the turf fields
for access from the parking lot.
