Meeting Minutes of 6-10-13
The Parks and Recreation Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Driscoll on Monday, June 10,
2013 at 7:00 PM. Dan Terry, Brian Eberlin, Bob Dobinski, Eric Sonnett, Jen Floyd, and Laura Poovakad
were present.
Action Items to follow up from 5-13-13
Make sure Bath house gets ordered.
Meeting Minutes from 5-13-13 Not Approved. Will be discussed at 6-24-13 meeting.
Sandy Beach
Prefab bath house delayed till approximately the end of July
Looking into the cost of porta-potties and a storage trailer to use until the bath house is in
place.
Maximum amount to be spent on porta-potties and trailer is set at $6,000.
If bath house is truly delayed until the end of July or into August, Commission is
considering waiting until after the beach closes for the season on August 18th to have the
bath house delivered and installed so as not to interrupt use of the beach.
Fruit Street Fields
Turf Pellets cleaned up around the turf fields
Putting down new pellets and repairs will be done in July.

Sandy Beach Update
Fruit Street turf pellets update – pellets removed
AYC – Ken & Dan will look into High school lending us HS Cheer mats. Bob has a
Westboro facility that could store the mats off season.
Movies on the Common
o Homeward Bound
o Hoodwinked
o Rango
o Rise of the Guardians
o Hugo
o The Sandlot
o Field of Dreams – decided on for 1st movie shown
o Brave
Week of July 8th – getting an intern to cover the office.
Chairman’s Report:
Commission Reorganization/Assignments
o Bob Dobinksi was voted in as Chairman with a 4-0 vote.
o Dan Terry was voted in a Vice Chairman with a 3-0 vote and 1 abstained.
o Liason roles will be decided at the June 24th meeting.
o Ken Discoll will be leaving the Commission as of 7-1-13. The Commission needs
to start thinking of possible replacements since Ken’s seat still has a year left of
tenure.
