Donald Des Lauriers - Acting Mayor in Chair Priscilla Arens - Clerk Donald Des Lauriers, Arthur Theis, Robert Franklin and Thomas Stevens present. The minutes of the meeting of October 5, 1971 read. Moved by Thomas Stevens to approve the minutes as read. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of October 18th read. Acting as a Canitassing Board the Council gave the following report: For Mayor: Wayne Neddermeyer 259 votes Clover Boyer (write-in). 1 C.O.Dorweiler " " 1 Robert Roehl " " 1 Vernon Roehl " '} 1 Art Theis " II 2 Everett Thies " " 1 Tom Stevens " " 1 George Wyse ° " 1 Robert Scott " " 0 defective ballots 16 Total cast 284 For Councilman: Art Theis 224 Robert Feser 57 defective ballots 3 Total cast 284 Total number of registered voters 1067; number of persons who voted 284. es Moved by Robert Franklin to accept the tallynrepory and cecolaree Wayne veddermeyer elected as Mayor and Arthur Theis as Councilman. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Arthur Theis was sworn in as Councilman for three year term beginning Jan.1,1972. Clem Neumann appeared with regard to the problem of mini -bikes, etc, tearing up his fields. Chuck geover was asked to give special attention to this matter. Bids for new police car were opened, as follows: Velie Oldsmobile - $4,639.45 without trade-in; $3,839.45 with trade-in. Lupient Oldsmobile- $4,070. 00 without trade-in; $5,265.00 with trade-in. Moved by Robert Franklin to accept the bid of Lupient Oldsmobile for a new policy car without trade-in in the amount of $4,070.00, keeping the old car for the Village. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. Mrs. Boyer and her attorney appeared witnIthe increase of the landfill license. Discussion and further action to be tr:.ken at December meeting. Walter Kohnen appeared with regard to putting in a street in Independence Heights Development, as to requirements. Referred to Engineer Mills. Moved by Robert Franklin to issue a dance permit for November 26th at no charge to the Youth Group at St. Ann's Church of Hamel. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Moved by Thomas Stevens to table the request of Donald Stotts about a road until our attorney can research the matter and advise us. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. 5 5 Gerald Barnes - holding tanks. Moved by Robert Franklin that we table this matter until the December meeting and ask Tom Stevens to 1 ook into the matter and contact William Mills in this connection. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. Discussed the Burning Ordinance. Further study to be done at December meeting/ Discussed the tax bill. Moved by Robert Franklin to have a special meeting on November 16th at 8 P. M. for budget study and also Barnes holding tanks. Seconded Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Moved by Arthur Theis to pay the bi11gf as follows: payroll in the amount of :5,118.96 and order checks in the amount of $8,106.88. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Discussed hiring another full time policeman. Moved by Robert Franklin that we hire Jerome LaFond as a full time policeman at 650.00 per month for 195 hours, starting as of December 1, 1971. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Thomas Stevens is to talk¢ with William Mills with regard to a sewage feasible report on the whole Village. A letter (copy) by the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. lent to Berberson-Caswell, Inc. regarding two defedtive hydrants in Medina-Morningside was read. A letter from the Northwest Chamber of Commerce with regard to upgrading Hwy.55 was read. Announced Hennepin League meeting of November 4, 1971 at 8 P. M. at the Golden Valley Hall.
