SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City Council accepted the donation of the "Shortcut" statue from the Peterschmidt family on
September 22, 2005. The Council directed staff to work with the McCall Improvement Committee,
McCall Arts and Humanities, and McCall Parks and Recreation to locate a suitable site for the
sculpture.
Staff met with Judy Drake, Brock Heasley, Monika Trapp, Rick Schiermeier, and Anne Kantola to
discuss the McCall Library front lawn (west side) as a potential location. It was agreed that was a
suitable site as it would enhance the library and would be very visible. The McCall Improvement
Committee and the McCall Arts and Humanities Council approve the location.
The MIC is soliciting a bid from ALPS for the installation work. The project will involve relocation
of the flagpole to the City Hall property.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept the recommendation of the MIC to locate the statue at the McCall Public Library.
