RESOLUTION NO. 92 -3166
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY OPPOSING STATE ACTIONS AGAINST CITIES
TO BALANCE THE STATE BUDGET
THECITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,
DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the State Legislature is considering taking $1 to $2
billion from cities to balance the State budget; and
WHEREAS, a shift in VLF and property tax revenue would cost Temple
City over 30% of our budget ($1.5 million) in General Fund monies; and
WHEREAS, it is a myth that cities are financially well off, Temple
City has already scrutinized every city program and activity for
efficiency and savings; and
WHEREAS, Temple City would have to reduce essential, basic services
to the community, including law enforcement which is 30% of our General
Fund Budget; and
WHEREAS, giving cities the flexibility to generate their own
revenue sources is just a guise for imposing a tax increase through
cities; and
WHEREAS, the State must develop long -term solutions
government rather than crisis_ management each year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of
opposes any actions the State of California may take to
State budget at the expense of cities.
SECTION 1. The City of Temple City does hereby
actions against cities to balance the State budget.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, Resolution No. 92-
3166 was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Temple City at
a regular meeting held on the 16th of June 1992, by the following vote:
