SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The renewal applicant is a disabled couple. Their sole income is from Social Security in the
amount of $542 per month ($6, 624.00 annually) for one spouse. The other spouse left his place
of employment for health reasons in February 2006, and has an application for Social Security
disability pending since March 2006. Attached is a redacted copy of the application for hardship
status renewal along with supporting documentation of pending disability application, income and
medical statement made on the application. Also, attached is a copy of the 2006 Health and
Human Services Poverty Guidelines.
Income, stated and supported, exceeds the poverty guidelines listed in the City code. Staff
recommends that the hardship status of the applicants be denied for 2006, and encourages the
applicant to re -apply for hardship status for 2007.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Deny the Utility Hardship Status Renewal application.
