Leesburg Economic Development and Diversity Commissions
Partner on Business Outreach Effort
All Leesburg businesses are invited to complete a short online survey by Friday,
April 28, 2017.
Leesburg, VA (April 3, 2017) – When the Leesburg Town Council created the Diversity
Commission in July 2015, one of the duties they assigned to the commission is working with
Leesburg Economic Development Commission (EDC) and town staff on regular outreach efforts
to the business community.
In March, the two groups launched an online survey of all Leesburg businesses to help identify
the types of assistance that businesses need and how the Town can help them grow and thrive.
“We are hoping to hear from the Town’s minority-owned businesses in particular,” said Enrique
Gonzalez, chair of the Diversity Commission. “We want to know if there are barriers to doing
business in Leesburg that the Town government can address.”
EDC Chairman Jim Sisley added, “We will use information gathered in the survey to develop
assistance programs tailored to the needs of Leesburg’s businesses, in cooperation with the
Mason Enterprise Center and the Loudoun Small Business Development Center. This type of
proactive outreach to our businesses is one reason that Leesburg is a great place to start and
grow a business.”
All businesses in Leesburg should have received a postcard inviting them to participate in the
survey. Any business that did not receive a postcard can participate by going to
www.leesburgva.gov/businesssurvey. The deadline for responding is Friday, April 28, 2017.
