Roig The minutes of the meeting held on January 12th,1953 were read, and upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously approved, were ordered filed. Chief E.W. Cooper made a report in general. The Commissioners approved the payment of the attached list of bills,as paid by check numbers #1228 to #1247 inclusive. The Bank Balaice as of February 7th,1953 was reported as $12,549.17 A report was made on Occupational Licenses, Other Licenses and Sines collected to Jamuary 31919530 A Letter was received and read, dated February. 4th 1953 from Mr.Robert Lovelace, City Manager of the City of Delray Beach, stating costs as an estimate for FIRE PROTECTION for the Town of Gulf Stream and cost of Use of Jail per day. Upon motion by Commissioner Clarke, seconded by Commissioner Roig and unanimously approved this estimate as to costs was accepted by the entire councii present subject to final approval by the Council of the City of Delray Beach. Town Clerk Bauer was instructed to advise Mr. Lorlace of the acceptance by the Town Commissioners of the above proposal in the form of an estimate and to inquire how soon a contract could be made. Mr. Lindsay presented as a suggestion the following form of letter to be mailed to all residents and property owners in the Town. Following discussion the entire Commission approved such letter and instructed the own Clerk to mail copy of same to all residents and property owners. "The Town Commission has been giving special attention to the question of autoists speeding through the Town of Gulf Stream. The hours of Police Patrol have been extended and Police Officers have been instructed to exercise continuing vigilance and to make no exceptions in favor of residents, including members of the Town Commission. In addition to the increasing number of driveways entering the main highway, there are a number of other points where par- ticular caution should be exercised. (1) At the Oouth End of Town there is the Bath & Tennis Club parking area and a blind entrance to a lane leading into the tennis courts. (2) A little further North are two pedestrian corssings for golf players, from the 17th green to the 1$th tee. (3) Further North is the pedestrian crossing from the Gulf Stream Club main building to the golf course. (4) Then a blind entrance to a lane with four houses on it. (5) The road now winds between high trees which prevents seeing cars coming a hundred yards ahead. (6) As you approach the North end of Town the road widens, but here are two dangerous crossings. First- The one from the School to the beach where young children cross to play on the sand and - Second- the Sea Road where Polo Ponies cross constantly to get to the beach. The warning SLOW sign and the sign not cross the double line, should be observed. We all would regret if an accident should occur because of motorists ignoring the traffic signs and it would be particillarly sad if the offender were to be a resident of the Town. MAY WE HAVE YOUR CO- OPERATION The Town Commission. Upon motion duly made and seconded, an ordinance creating a Town Planning Board was read and passed on its second reading. Mr. James N. Wallace was named as Chairman, Mr. Fford Burchell member Mr. John E. Rovensky " Following discussion, The Commissioners unanimously approved that Town Clerk Tax Collector, Commissioner Wm.J.Bauer be bonded in the amount of ii.000,00 Several letters were read submitted by Mrs. Glenna C. Crafts, pro- perty owner, relative to the Road she lives on, namely i.e., Banyan Roads A final letter wqs read advising the Commission to forget her requests until further notice. A letter was received and read from Mr. Henry B. Smith,Jr., asking the Town Commission to contact the Gulf Stream Golf Flub to see if they would improve the appearance of the Clubs buildings and surrounding property at the West end of Golf View Road. The Comm- issioners voted ghat this letter be referred to Mr. James N. Wallace Chairman of the Town Planning Boards One Commissioner suggested that a hedge might be the answer. Minutes of meeting of the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stteam, Florida held at the Town Hall on Monday, February 9th,1953 at 10 a.m. -3- An ordinance amending Section 78 of the Code of General Ordinances of the Town of Gulf Stream,Florida of 1930 was read and upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was voted that Permit Fees fOr Building, alteration, repair or addition to cost as follows: "FEES ". $2.00 per thousand upon the estimated cost of such building, structure, alteration, repair or addition up to a fee of $250.00 for such a permit, no permit to cost N more than $250.00• and no permit to be issued at a fee -� of less than $5.06 There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was upon motion duly made and seconded, adjourned.
