Mayor Lindsay presided and Town Clerk Bauer acted as Secretary.
The Clerk submitted to this'meeting minutes of the meetings of
this Town Commission dated July 14th to July 31st, September h4th,
October 10th and October 12th,1953. On motion unanimously adopted
said minutes were approved and all action therein referred to, was
ratiffied amd adopted.
The Commissioners unanimously approved payments of all accounts
paid by Checks numbered #1442 to 1459 inclusive.
The Commissioners unanimously voted to extend a vote of thanks
to Mr. Wm. Koch and his Committee for their efforts on Mosquitoe
Control this past summer and to express the wish of the Commissioners
that Mr. Koch and his Committee continue their cooperation in the
future.
A copy of letter from Mr. Cecil P. Young dated Juny 18th,1953
addressed to Mr. D.W.Calhoun and his reply dated June 26th,1953
were read to the Commissioners. Mr. Young had asked Mr. Colhoun
for his permission to build closer to Mr. Colhouns lot line than
allowed by Zoning Regulations. Mr. Colhouns reply refused this
request.
A letter dated September 22,1953 from the Florida Power & Lightt(Height
Company signed by Mr. Charles Senior, Manager, relative tot T.V. (Of
Aerial installations was read and upon motion duly adopted the
matter was tabled until further information could be had.
Discussion was held relative to the Towns Chlorinator operation.
Letter was read from Wallace & Tiernan with suggestions for im.
provement. Mayor L. Seton Lindsay appointed Mr. N.J.Clarke, Vice -
Mayor a Committee of One to investigate and study the suggestions
offered.
A letter was read from L eland Sterry, Realtor, dated December
10th,1953 requesting permission Under Section VI, Paragraph G
of the Zoning Ordinances, to erect a sign on the property of
JAMAICA SQUARE reading as follows:

On motion unanimously adopted this request was denied.

A request for a permit to extend a porch and build an additional bed
room at the residence of Miss Gertrude E. Skelly, was discussed as
presented by Mr. James I. Sinks, Building Contractor, Mr. Sinks had
been informed that according to Ordinance a Building Permit was not
to be issued for the period December 1st to April ist. The Commissioners
voted to reconsider this request upon written approval of all
surrounding neighbors of the property of Miss Skelly.
Discussion was held relative to increasing the Lamp Lumens of Street
Lights. Town Clerk Commissioner Bauer was instructed to contact Mr.
Senior, Manager of the Local FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY and both
to make a night inspection. Report to be furnished the Town Commission
as quickly as possible.
Commissioner Bauer submitted a verbal proposal from Mr. Howard Cromer,
Utilities Contractor, to purchase of the Town of Gulf Stream all Water
Meters on hand at the Towns Cost and thereafter to sell all water meters
to residents of the Town requiring same and to attend to all meter
repairs in the Town. Mr. Cromer mailing direct billings therefore.
This would eliminate the Towns Investment in Water Meters and
bookkeeping relative to repairs or otherwise.
The Commission voted unanimously to accept Mr. Cromers proposal.
In response to an invitation from Mayor L. Seton Lindsay, Mr. James N.
Wallace and Mr. Phil Hoyle, Members of the Town Planning Board, attended
this meeting to hear a discussion on possible future developements of
the Polo Fields. Following the discussion, Mr. Wallace, Chairman if
the Town Planning Board, suggested that the Town ask Messrs. Harrison,
Ballard and Allen, 123 E. 77 St. New York City, for an estimate of cost
of making a preliminary survey of a general planning program for this
Town.
The Commissioners read and approved a report by Himes & Himes, Certi-
fied Public Accountants, for the period June lst,1953 to September
30th,1953. The Commission then, upon motion made seconded and
unanimously adoppted, voted that a letter be maiied to all property
owners showing revenue and expenses for 16 months ended September
30th,1453. In this same letter, all eligible and qualified residents
were to be asked to register at the Town Hall so as to participate
in the voting for Town Commissioners at an election to be held in
March 1954.
As the result of an accident partially caused by backing out onto
ALL from a private driveway within the Town of Gulf Stream it was
suggested that the above letter call attention to this traffic hazard.
The Commission, upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously
carried, voted that signatures of any two Commissioners would be
sufficient to cahh and redeem an U.S.Savings Bonds now owned by the
Town of Gulf Stream as reported -And recorded in the report of Himes
and Himes as of September 30th,1953.

Resolved that the Commission hereby ratifies and approves the
action of the Town Planning Board in approving the Plat of
"Polo UoveTM referred to them by the Commission at its meeting
on April 25th 1953 and the action of Stewart B. Iglehart as
Acting Mayor in approving said Plat on behalf of the Town of
Gulf Stream under date of September 11,1953 said plat having
thereafter been recorded in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Palm Beach County, Florida on October 2,1953,
in Plat Book # 24 page 7s.
There being no further business to come before this meeting,
it adjourned.
