HomeMy Public PortalAbout07/31/1953MEETING% OF TOWN COMMISSION SITTING AS BOARD OF EQUALIZERS The Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida met at the Town Hall in the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, on July 14th, and from day to day thereafter until July 3111953, between the hours of ten o'clock A.M. and twelve noon, as a Board of Equalizerzy to hear and consider any and all complaints of tax payers, and to receive and equalize values of real estate and improved properties shown on the 1953 Tax Assessment Moll, The Town Clerk presented to the Board a copy of a notice which he had posted on the Town Bulleting Board under date of June 13th, 1953, and that said Notice had remained posted on Said Bulletin Board continuasly from June 1:,.1953 to July 14,1953. The Commission ordered a copy of Said Notice attached to these minutes and made a part of the same by reference. The Town Tax Assessor's 1953 Tax Assessment Roll, as presented to the Town Commission, disclosed the following total valuations: Total Value of All Real Estate and Improvements for 1953, $10694,001.00 Total Value of all real estate and Improvements $1,694,001.00 Homstead exemptions 89,400.00 Widows " 500.00 Lands held under Town Tax Sale Certificates none Total Value of Real Estate and and Improvements less Homestead and Widows Exemptions $1,604,101.00 After reviewing the Tax Roll and the assessed valuations as shown thereon and submitted to the Town Commission, sitting as a Board of Equalizers, -.by the Town Tax Assessor, the following Resolution was offered and adapted: WHEREAS The Town Commission met as a Board of Equalizers at the Town Mall in the Down of Gulf Stream, Florida, from the 14th daycf July to and through the 31st day of July, 1953, and at daid meetings heard all complaints by tax payers in reference to the assessed valuations placed on the Assessment Roll by the Town Tax Assessor, and it was further resolved that the Tax Assessment Roll, as prepared by the Tax Assessor, was fair, reasonable and Just; and WHEREAS, no tax payers appeared beforethe Board of Equalizers at any time during the days upon which it met for the purpose of hearing complaints and equalizing tax values. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Tax Assessment Roll for 1953, as submitted by the Town Tax Assessor be% and the same is hereby, equalized, and adjusted as required by law, MEETING OF TOWN COMMISSION SITTING AS BOARD OF EQUALIZERS -2- July 14th -July 31,1953. and the same is accepted as being fair, just and equal as to values. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the above and fore- going resolution was unanimously adopted; having equalized and adjusted the valuations shown on the 1953 Tax Roll the following resolution was adopted: Be It Resolved, that the 1953 Tax Roll as has this day been revised and equalized Ix be returned to the Tax Assessor and that the Tax Assessor is hereby instructed and directed by the Town Commission to correct, equalize and fix values on the said Assess- ment Roll as having been equalized by the Town Commission, and said values shall not be changed.
