RESOLUTION NO. 92 -3187
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY ESTABLISHING A SERVICE CHARGE FOR RELEASE OF
IMPOUNDED AND /OR STORED VEHICLES
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department impounds and stores vehicles from the
City of Temple City; and
WHEREAS, all related costs for the impound, storage and release of said vehicles are paid by the
City through existing contract law enforcement services, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Temple City desires to recover the costs associated
with the impound, storage and release of vehicles;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY
FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A service charge of $62.90 is adopted effective December 1, 1992, for the
release of impounded and/or stored vehicles. The amount of $62.90 has been determined to be the
reasonable cost associated with impounding and storing vehicles and does not exceed the estimated cost
for providing such services.
SECTION 2. The vehicle impound service fee shall be applicable to the release of all vehicles
impounded or otherwise stored under the following conditions:
a. Abandoned vehicles
b. Hazardous vehicles
c. Unregistered vehicles
d. Vehicles operated by unlicensed drivers
e. Vehicles with five or more outstanding parking violation citations
f. Vehicles obstructing public right of way or access to private property
g. Vehicles seized as evidence or subsequent to the operator's arrest
SECTION 3. The administration of the program shall be a joint effort with the Sheriff's
Department. All initial reports, release forms and fee collections will be the responsibility of the Sheriff's
Department. Fees shall be collected upon release of any vehicle subject to the service charge. Additionally,
the Sheriff's Department will remit the monies collected to the City's Finance Department on a daily basis.
