Emergency Meeting

Attending: Nancy Stevenson, Michaelyn Holmes, Ron Yankee, Bob Ionta, Bill Shaw
Also attending: Rick , South Mill Street
‐Conservation Commission did not tell Mr. that he needed to come before the Historical
Commission for approval to tear down the barns.
‐Mr. made an offer on this property based on the information he was given by the property owner.
‐c losing on property is scheduled for this Thursday.
‐ Planned on purchasing based on buildings coming down.
‐building inspector did not say anything about the buildings' age. Buildings are listed as 1850 and 1900,
respectively.
‐It is odd that Conservation Commission declares this as wetlands with buildings on it that are so old.
‐Buyer is adamant that he does no care about how his neighbors feel about what he does on this
property.
‐Possibility for a Deed Restriction placed on the old Mill parts on the property, to save them intact in
place.
‐Buyer agreed with this stipulation as long as we allow him to demolish the buildings, and we run the
risk of him changing his mind each day we move forward with this.
‐It would be difficult to move the older barn.
‐If we hold a public hearing, it will be for the older barn only.
‐Our job is to keep old buildings.
‐Buyer wants to tear barns down in conjunction with construction of house. Easier and cheaper.
‐Procedural question: Can one building be held and not the other?
‐Buyer does not want to come to another meeting. Wants decision to be made tonight.
‐Discussion: Should a public hearing be for both barns or just the older barn? All agree to hold it just for
the lower barn.
‐Bob motioned to vote to hold a public hearing.
‐Nancy seconded.
‐Unanimous approval
‐Buyer said that after the public hearing, if we decide to let this barn go, he will sign an agreement for a
deed restriction on the mill machinery on the property.
‐Town establishes abutters.
‐We send registered letters to abutters.
‐Bill will type letter.
‐Bob will do newspaper notice.
‐Nancy will get list of abutters, and mail out letters.
‐Ron motioned to adjourn meeting.
‐Nancy seconded.
‐Unanimous approval. 9;10 pm
