HomeMy Public PortalAbout11/07/1962 CCMREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MEDINA NOVEMBER & 7,1962 199 Meeting called to order at 8 PM. All council members present. Minutes of regular meeting were read and amended to read, " Kubic garage was about 18 to 24 inchks from property line. Motion by H Arens to accept minutes as corrected second by A. Gertz, motion carried. Minutes of Special meeting of October 16,1962 were read, Motion by Arens to accept* minutes as read, second by Gertz, motion carried. Minutes of Special meeting of October 19 were read, motion by Arens to accept minutes as read, second by Roehl, motion carried. Clerk read a letter written by Mrs. Beery giving her side of the Kubic matter. Mayor Scott asked Alfred Merz if he remembered when Kubic had recieved his building permit. Merz said that before giving Kubic the permit he had outlined for him the building code including the property line requirements. Merz sadi he had never gm= recieved the registered letter back which was sent to Kubic so it must have been delivered to either Kubic or his sister and he therefore knew he was in error when he continued with the building. Merz, said however the receipt for the letter was mislaid and he is unable to find it. He said the postal clerkk-had told him they might not have a record of the letter since it was ent some time ago. Merz said it might have been certified, not registered, but that he woold swear in court that they received the letter because it was never returned to him. He was sure that Kubic was fully aware of the village code regarding boundaried, etc, because he had come to Merz"s house many times during the boundry dispute and had been fully informed by Merz of all the requierements. Mayor Scott asked the council if they felt the village should sign a complint against Kubic. A Gertz said he thought it was im= perative to do so because if Kubic was allowed to Violate the village code and get away with it someone else was almost sure to try it also. Merz agreed with this and so did the rest of the council. W Motion by Herb Arens to instruct the building inspector to sign a complaint against Kubic, Second by Winterhalter, motion cwrried. Arthur Gertz suggested that it go on record that the unamimous authority of the village council was behind the building inspector, council agreed. Mrs Elizabeth Proeh6 suggested that the election judges be insturected more fully before elections. Motion by Winterhalter to have the clerk instruct the election Judges in their powers and dutied, Second by H Arens, motion carried. Bids for snow removal were opend. LOnly bid recieved was from Leo leuer as follows. Road Patrol q'0.: Per hour 4 Wheel drive At a° per hour Seasonal guarantee $750.00. Motion by Arthur Gertz to accept Leo Leuers bid second by H. Winterhalter, motion carried. Discussion on the plowing of drivewaā€¯ . Leo Leuer suggested rates be increased. Motion by H Winterhalter to set the fee for plowing private driveways at $4.00 per trip and up., second by H Arens, Motion carried. Mr. Gaspeter applied for a dance permit for lakeview dance hall, he stated he was not going to sell beer or allow ligour in the dance hall.Motion by H Arens to grant Mr Gaspeter a dance permit for the balance of the fiscal year provived the council is satisfied with the application as finally completed, second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Discussion on the Dorn dnaminsg drainage problem, it was deciede that it wasxmty not the responsibility of the village to correct the problem since the water was drainjng off of private property and the culvert was there before the drain the around the house was put in. The project had been put in by Begin without council supervision. Motion by Gertz to appoint the following eleetion judges. Gladys Reimer, Marion Ahlstrom, Sylvia Rudolph, Leona Koelfgen and Viola Bouley, Second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to adjourn, second by Arens, motion carried.
