WORK SESSION
1. Introduction
?
The City was to receive estimated new construction and annexation numbers from Valley County by June 6. On
July 5, we received an estimated new construction amount. However, we still have not received an annexation
number as Valley County is currently revising about 5,000 assessments by approximately 15% - 100% each. The
property tax numbers in the attached budget worksheet are estimates and will be adjusted when the final
assessed market valuation is provided by Valley County, no later than July 29.
2. Important Dates
?
Thursday, July 21 at 1:00 pm ? City Council work session to adopt tentative budget.
?
Friday, July 22 ? last day City Council can adopt the tentative budget.
?
Friday, July 29 ? final assessed market valuation due from Valley County.
?
Thursday, August 11 at 6:00 pm ? public hearing on FY06 budget (this is a regular City Council meeting).
?
Thursday, August 25 at 6:00 pm ? approval of FY06 budget and adoption of appropriation ordinance (this is a
regular City Council meeting).
?
Wednesday, September 7 ? last day City Council can approve FY06 budget and adopt the appropriation
ordinance.
?
Thursday, September 8 ? last day to certify the tax levy to the County Commissioners.
?
Friday, September 30 ? last day to publish FY06 appropriation ordinance.
