HomeMy Public PortalAbout20130627 - Library - Meeting MinutesHopkinton Board of library Trustees Meeting Minutes, June 27, 2013 Town Hall, 7 p.m, The June meeting of the Hopkinton Board of library Trustees was called to order at 7:08 p.m, by Chairman Marie Eldridge. Also in attendance were board members John Belger, June Harris, Mike McNamara and Sue Porter, and Library Director Rownak Hussain. The first order of business was board reorganization. Sue Porter nominated john Belger as chairman; second by Mike McNamara. Affirmative vote was unanimous. John Belger nominated June Harris as vice chairman; second by Sue Porter. Affirmative vote was unanimous. John Belger nominated Marie Eldridge as recording secretary; second by Mike McNamara. Affirmative vote was unanimous. Marie Eldridge nominated Sue Porter as liaison to the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation; second by John Belger. Affirmative vote was unanimous. The main focus of the meeting was the proposed goals and objectives contained in the library's new five-year strategic plan. After lengthy discussion, the board condensed the goals to five. Rownak will use the new outline to complete the objectives and actions needed. She will send a revised copy to trustees to review prior to the next meeting. Rownak asked that board members also review the narrative sections of the proposed strategic plan and be prepared to discuss edits at the next meeting. Her goals are to:  gain trustees approval of the plan by August  submit the plan to Town Manager Norman Khumalo to review  present the plan to selectman at a future Board of Selectmen's meeting  prepare a media article to inform the public about the plan  include a link to the plan on the library website Marie Eldridge made a motion to accept the May meeting minutes; second by Mike McNamara. The minutes were unanimously approved as presented. Marie Eldridge made a motion to adjourn the meeting; second by Sue Porter. Vote was unanimous to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. The next Board of Library Trustees meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 15, at 7 p.rn., in the Hopkinton Public library.
