New Eric Brown Skate Plaza at Catoctin Park To Be Dedicated
on Saturday, May 27, 2017
New state-of-the-art all-concrete skate plaza replaces the original Catoctin
SkatePark that opened in 1998.
Leesburg, VA (May 12, 2017) – On
Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.,
Mayor Kelly Burk will officially dedicate
the new Eric Brown Skate Plaza at
Catoctin Park with a ribbon cutting
ceremony. The new skate plaza is named
in honor of skating enthusiast and park
supporter Eric Brown who, as a teenager,
was instrumental in the creation of the
original Catoctin SkatePark in 1998.
Immediately following the ribbon cutting
ceremony, the skate plaza will be opened
for public use.
The new concrete skate plaza is approximately 12,000 square feet and features a bowl , vertical
wall and street elements. The park will be open from dawn to dusk and will be self-monitored
by users. Helmets are required and bike pegs are not allowed.
