“In Case You Missed It” Photographic Art Exhibit Opens at
Leesburg Town Hall on June 2, 2017
Works by Kyla Jenkins will be on display through August 2017.
Leesburg, VA (May 15, 2017) – The Leesburg Commission on Public
Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of photographic art by
Kyla Jenkins, focusing on the small details of life.
“In Case You Missed It” will open with a reception from 6:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m., at the Leesburg Town Hall (25 W Market St) on Friday,
June 2, 2017, as part of downtown Leesburg’s monthly First Friday
celebration of the arts.
Jenkins is a local high school educator, photographer and artist
working in West Virginia and Loudoun County. The exhibition is a
collection of photographs that focus on the small details of life. “So
much of our lives today are dominated by technology and being
constantly ‘overbooked’ that the small minutiae of life are often
missed. Through these works, I attempt to focus on these smaller details in life that may go
unnoticed. Finding these details brings me great joy and I hope to bring joy to others as well
through my use of color and perspective”, says Jenkins.
She focuses on bold and vibrant colors in her photographs
as well as using a shallow depth of field to change the
perspective of the subject in the photograph. By working
with this shallow depth of field, the background melts away
and isolates the subject without the distraction of a busy
background. Subjects include flowers, fences, forgotten
things, and light trails.
The Leesburg Town Exhibit Hall features rotating exhibits by Leesburg and Loudoun artists.
Artists interested having their work considered for a future exhibit in the Leesburg Town Exhibit
Hall should contact Anne Geiger, staff liaison to the Commission on Public Art, at
ageiger@leesburgva.gov.
