A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH
JULIA KLEMEK AND THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO PROVIDE PUBLIC ART
AT 11300 ATLANTIC FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000
WHEREAS, on January 28, 2009, staff issued a Request for Proposals for
the development of public art for 11300 Atlantic Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Staff has complied with the Request for Proposal process to
select the most qualified and consistent artist to create two pieces of public art for
11300 Atlantic; and
WHEREAS, the artist will be required to fill two areas which are 7 feet tall
and four feet wide for the first piece and 12 feet tall and 4 feet wide for the
second piece; and
WHEREAS, the proposed original art will aesthetically enhance "The
Gardens" Senior Housing Project and the local community; and
WHEREAS, the artist selected has extensive experience with creating
excellent public art; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The development of public art for 11300 Atlantic will
assist in the elimination of blight in the Project Area.
Section 2. Funds are available in the FY 2008-09 Revenue budget
Public Art Fund
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
take such actions and execute such documents as may be necessary to
implement and effectuate this Resolution and enter into an Agreement by
and between Julia Klemek and the City of Lynwood for public art the cost
of which shall not exceed $15,000
Section 4. This Resolution shall go into effect upon the approval
herein.
