HomeMy Public PortalAbout2022-06-01 minutesMinutes of Meeting Jefferson City Council Committee on Administration Wednesday, June 1, 2022 Boone/Bancroft Room (City Hall) – 230 East McCarty Street ATTENDEES: Committee members present: Laura Ward, Jon Hensley, Ron Fitzwater, Jack Deeken (Online) Staff Present: Gail Strope, Steve Crowell, Ryan Moehlman, Sonny Sanders, Leigh Ann Corrigan Others Present: Scott Spencer, Michael Lester, Jeff Haldiman (News Tribune), Carrie Tergin Meeting came to order at 7:32 a.m. by Councilmember Laura Ward. The May 4, 2022 minutes were approved with a motion by Councilmember Ron Fitzwater, and seconded by Councilmember Jon Hensley. The motion passed unanimously. Municipal Court Reorganization: Presented by Ryan Moehlman. The Municipal Court was recently reviewed by The Office of State Courts Administration. The audit recommended separating the Municipal Court from the Law Department. The Municipal Court Administrator will need to be given more authority and responsibility. A request will be brought to the Council to upgrade the position. The Municipal Judge will be responsible for oversight of the office, including the budget. Appointments: Presented by Gail Strope. The committee made five re-appointments and two new appointments. A motion to approve was made by Councilmember Jon Hensley and seconded by Councilmember Laura Ward. The motion passed unanimously. There being no further business, Councilmember Ron Fitzwater made the motion to adjourn which was seconded by Councilmember John Hensley. The motion passed unanimously at 7:44 a.m.
