Leesburg Seeks Input on Future Development of Town’s
Eastern Gateway on Route 7
Community meeting will be held on June 20, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., in the Ida Lee
Banquet Hall.
Leesburg, VA (May 31, 2017) – Last year, the
Town of Leesburg began a visioning process for
the area along Route 7, from River Creek
Parkway to the Route 15 Bypass. The effort was
initially dubbed “Envision East Market Street.”
Based on feedback received, staff have
rebranded the area and visioning process as the
Eastern Gateway District.
“Based on the results of an online community survey via the Leesburg Listens civic engagement
platform, it was obvious that people see this area as the gateway to Leesburg from the east,”
explained Rich Klusek, the Senior Planner heading up the project. “We ar e rebooting the project
with this public input meeting on June 20th to better understand how the community wants to
see this area develop in the future.”
At the meeting, staff will provide an overview of project efforts to date, including the results of
a design charrette with the Loudoun County Design Cabinet and the online survey. Staff will be
discussing current and proposed development projects and opportunities for new
development. A key part of the meeting will be getting input from the public. Staff will engage
participants about preferences for future community design, transportation and public
facilities. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide interactive feedback with live polling.
While not required, attendees are encouraged to bring their smart phones or other internet -
enabled devices to answer questions and provide their opinions in real time.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Ida Lee Park
Banquet Hall on the lower level of the recreation center at 60 Ida Lee Drive NW.
