Exhibit of Foreign Gifts to the Town of Leesburg on Display at
Douglass Community Center
The exhibit, curated by Thomas Balch Library staff, will be on display through
August 7, 2017.
Leesburg, VA (July 10, 2017) – When
representatives from communities in foreign
countries visit Leesburg as part of international
exchange programs, they often bring gifts from
their home cities or countries. After being
presented to Town officials, the gifts are added
to the collections of the Thomas Balch Library.
Recently, Thomas Balch Library installed a new
exhibit at Douglass Community Center (405
East Market Street) showcasing some of the
gifts the Town of Leesburg has received from
foreign nations.
“It has been really interesting to learn about all the connections the Town of Leesburg and
Loudoun County have with cultures around the world,” says Thomas Balch Library’s intern Max
Arlett. “The exhibit has pieces from six nations, including the Republic of Korea and Germany,
and is designed to raise awareness of the diverse relationships the Town of Leesburg has
fostered around the world.”
The research, design, and installation of the exhibit were completed with the assistance of
Arlett and a previous library intern, Caroline Kessler. The exhibit will be on display until August
7, 2017.
