Regular Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, April 4, 2001
Present: Chair Mace Terry, Leslie Hanson, and Sharon Pitcock
Absent: Becky Harlan, Ex Officio members Bonnie Nealon&Jeff McCall
Also Present: Mayor Nancy Michael, City Clerk/Treasurer Pamm Jones, City Council
members Mark Hammer&Tom Roach, Civic League Playground
Committee members- Lynn Wilson, Rachel Mandleco and Denise
Sigworth, and Parks & Recreation Director Rod Weinschenk
Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Greencastle Parks& Recreation Board was called to order at
7:21 p.m. in the City Hall Council room.
Approval of Monthly Claims
After brief discussion and clarification in regards to the Daniel&Barton payments,
Sharon Pitcock moved to accept the claims, and seconded by Leslie Hanson. All Ayes.
Civic League Community-Built Playground Project
Fundraising - Fundraising Chair Denise Sigworth presented a proposal to each board
member regarding ways to donate to the project. Individual play features may be
purchased with the name for purchaser installed on the piece, or for a$20 donation
individuals may have their names engraved on one of the "Pickets for Play"which will
surround the playground.
"Name the Playground" Contest - Project Co-Chairs Lynn Wilson and Rachel
Mandleco presented to those in attendance a ballot, which listed the various names
submitted by area sixth grade classes. The favorite name chosen by the panel of judges
was"Emerald Palace" submitted by the sixth grade from Reelsville Elementary School.
Adjournment
Due to prior commitments and tight time constraints, board member Sharon Pitcock
excused herself from the meeting, leaving no quorum. Meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.

Makeup Meeting
A special meeting of the Greencastle Parks& Recreation Board has been scheduled for
7:00 p.m. Monday evening, April 9, 2001, in the City Hall Council Room. At that time,
the board will discuss the remaining items on the agenda.
