Town of Leesburg Hosts HUBZone Business Meeting at Mason
Enterprise Center on July 27, 2017
Small businesses interested in federal contracting or HUBZone certification are
invited to attend this no-cost informational meeting.
Leesburg, VA (July 13, 2017) – The Town of Leesburg’s Economic Development Office will hold
its next quarterly HUBZone Business Meeting on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m., at the Mason Enterprise Center in downtown Leesburg (202 Church Street SE). The
meeting is no-cost and open to all small businesses.
This quarter’s meeting will feature Duane Nathaniel, president and CEP of Kalani Consulting, Inc.
(KCI) as the speaker. He has over 34 years of program and project management experience in the
commercial and public sectors, with experience and expertise in management consulting, systems
development, and integration services to federal government clients such as the Department of
Labor, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State,
Department of Energy, Department of Education, NASA, Department of Agriculture, Department of
the Interior, and the Defense Information Systems Agency. Duane will be sharing his experience
navigating the HUBZone application process and tackling the requirement that 35% of employees
be HUBZone residents.
Kalani Consulting, Inc. is an Information Technology Services company founded in 2009. Its principal
office is in Leesburg, with additional offices in Springfield, Virginia. The company became HUBZone
certified in 2013. KCI provides proven IT technical and management services based on knowledge of
the customer, technology and business processes enabling KCI to provide a best value solution for
our clients.
The Town of Leesburg's partner in supporting HUBZone businesses in Leesburg, the Mason
Enterprise Center (MEC), provides a collaborative, training space for the quarterly meetings.
A program of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the HUBZone program helps small
businesses gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities while increasing
employment opportunities in economically distressed areas. In an effort to assist local
businesses with navigating the HUBZone certification process, the Leesburg Economic
Development Office has partnered with local business owners who have completed the process
successfully to present quarterly information sharing meetings.
