Re: Special Meeting
Quick News
Civil War Reenactment- Aaron Rambo has requested a date change for the Civil War
Reenactment to be held in Robe-Ann Park this spring. He would like to change from
April 13-14 to the previous weekend of April 6-7. Not a problem on my end.
Really Bad News
Budget Cuts Needed- I received tentative "really bad news" in regards to the 2002 Fiscal
Year Budget. Pamm has reportedly received preliminary word from the State Board of
Accountants that the City of Greencastle must cut $310,000 from this year's operating
111 budgets, $60,000 of which is from the park&recreation budget. We are expecting
official written word Tuesday of next week. Pamm reports that she will have 7 days to
respond as to where we will make the cuts. She also states the City Council will have a
special meeting to discuss these cuts. Mayor Nancy Michael has stated that the City will
appeal these cuts, but to expect some kind of budget cut.
It has been reported to me that $60,000 is the largest budget cut ever received for the
parks budget. I have started looking it over, but will need your input as to where we are
going to find it. I believe that we may need some possible policy changes to alleviate
expenses, but also some price hikes to increase revenues.
For your review, I have included a copy of the budget as approved by the City Council.
Please feel free to make a list of questions and possible areas to cut. Reminder, this
$60,000 doesn't affect the three non-reverting areas of the budget.
Questions or comments, please feel free to call.
