Public Input: Questions, Concerns, Statements The park board held a neighborhood discussion in regards to the future development of Maple Berry Park, property recently purchased from Peggy & Kenny Ferrand. Park board secretary, Leslie Hanson created a list of items, which included: 1. Basketball Court 8. Children's activities (playground equip.) 2. "Hide the Eyesores" 9. Mowed regularly 3. Sidewalks 10. Security—well lit areas 4. Restroom facilities 11. Picnic facilities/shelter house 5. Adequate parking 12. Access to power/electricity 6. Trees/Landscaping 13. Water fountain 7. Benches 14. Barriers/fences Conceptual Plan Parks & Recreation Director R.Weinschenk presented a conceptual plan that he f 3 i ''`� Minutes—page two developed which incorporated most of the items on the list. He did advise everyone attending that the plan had not officially been approved by the Greencastle Board of Park Commissioners. Grant Application R.Weinschenk discussed a$5,000 recycled-product grant he has applied for which will be used to stretch budgeted funds for playground equipment to purchase additional amenities like trash receptacles, playground border, picnic tables and benches made from recycled plastic. I Projected Timeline I City Engineer Glen Morrow and R.Weinschenk expressed interest in a timeline that would culminate with a tree planting on Arbor Day 2004. The true timeline will depend on the availability of funds.
