Call To Order And Roll Call
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Eimers at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Colton, Mr. Eimers,
Mr. Muller and Mr. Venable answered the roll call. Ms. Arp was absent. A quorum was
present. Members of the staff present were Acting City Manager Carla Donica, City
Clerk Cherry Woodbury and Personnel Clerk Chelsi Sholty.
City Manager Interviews
Mr. Colton explained the interview process to the members of the Selection Committee
present. He announced that Mr. Kretschner had withdrawn. The questions for the
candidates to be asked was discussed.
Ben McMakin — Comments made by Mr. McMakin dealt with overcoming sewer and
water rate increases, unpopular decisions being made to terminate the Police Chief and
Building Inspector, collaborative management style, belief that Council sets policy and
City Manager makes recommendations, communicate to the public the City policy and
what City is doing, experience with contracting engineering and attorney services, prior
experience working with DEQ and EPA, and working with women if capable and
successful.
Bill Kretschmer— Withdrew
Bill Robertson — Comments made by Mr. Robertson covered experience with City of
Long Beach for 3 years, understanding difference between working for a corporation
and a municipal, MBA in finance / management, awareness of current City issues but
focus on objectives made by City Council, strengths as a facilitator and dealing with
people, being realistic and honest, promoting a positive environment, enjoying what he
does, seeing the big picture of working with outside agencies and internally, belief in
being pro active concerning City growth, and difficulty dealing with people who don't
care.
Mr. Colton requested that each Selection members submit to him their choice with short
statement by Thursday, February 25th. Mr. Colton noted that this was on the agenda for
the Council meeting on the 25th

Without further business, Mr. Colton moved to adjourn. Mr. Eimers seconded and the
motion carried unanimously. The council adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
