“Granny’s Cooking” Exhibit Features Antique Kitchen Utensils
Leesburg, VA (June 1, 2022) – “Granny’s Cooking: Meals
at 21 West Loudoun Street, 1950s-1970s” is currently on
display at Thomas Balch Library in the Margaret Mercer
Room.
A number of antique kitchen utensils used by Mrs. S.J.
Johnston, who lived on the corner of Loudoun and Wirt
Streets for almost 75 years, are on on display.
The exhibit focuses on the cooking she did for her
grandsons from the 1950s to the 1970s. Using family
recollections, kitchen utensils, and recipes from the
Charles A. Johnston Collection, the exhibit recreates
Mrs. Johnston’s (Granny’s) cooking and offers a look back at Leesburg’s tasty past.
The exhibit is available to view during the month of June. Please call 703-737-7195 or email
balchlib@leesburgva.gov for more information.
