Temporary Road Closures to Occur During Juneteenth March
Leesburg, VA (June 13, 2022) – A march, coordinated by the NAACP and Loudoun Freedom
Center, will be held in downtown Leesburg, on Monday, June 20, in observation of Juneteenth,
which marks the end of slavery in the United States.
Marchers will gather on the Loudoun County Courthouse lawn in downtown Leesburg at 9 a.m.
and will proceed from the courthouse on East Market Street to the Orion Anderson Memorial
(Harrison Street and W&OD Trail).
East Market Street, from King Street to Church Street, will be closed at 9 a.m. in preparation for
the march. Once the march begins, King Street between Cornwall and Market will be closed for
a short time as the walkers exit the courthouse and turn onto E. Market. The eastbound and
westbound lanes of E. Market St. will be closed between King and Church until the walkers are
completely on Church.
Rolling street closures will take place in the eastbound lanes of East Market Street, from Church
Street to the memorial site, as the parade proceeds. Drivers should follow police direction and
be prepared for minor delays.
