New Town Hall Art Exhibit Features Photography by Diane
Helentjaris
An open house will be held on Friday, September 2 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Leesburg, VA (September 1, 2022) – The Leesburg
Commission on Public Art (COPA) is pleased to announce a new
art display currently available for viewing on the first floor of
Leesburg Town Hall (25 West Market Street).
Photographs by Diane Helentjaris features approximately 30
images taken by the artist, which depict life in Loudoun County
and the Virginia piedmont. Interior shots reflect the ability to be
creative while restricted by the pandemic. Many carry a strong
abstract vibe while maintaining an undistorted reality.
“I love photography for its ability to accurately capture,
unvarnished, a point and place in time. And to do so
immediately, without the hours and days it takes to capture an image in a painting or a sculpture,”
Helentjaris said.
The public is invited to meet the artist during an open house on Friday, September 2 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Helentjaris said she looks forward to inspiring others on how to share their views of their worlds.
“Everyone has something to offer and photography can be an accessible, low-cost way to
communicate,” she said.
The exhibit will run through November 2022.
The first floor lobby and hallway of the Leesburg Town Hall features rotating exhibits by Leesburg and
Loudoun artists. Those interested in having their work considered for a future exhibit should contact Leah
Kosin, staff liaison to the Commission on Public Art, at lkosin@leesburgva.gov.
