In attendance: Committee Members:,Lisa Scapellati, ,Jane Peno, Bonnie Roy, Pete Howerton, Ingrid Moyer,
Dave Hubbard. Absent: Glenda Downs, Bill Pomeroy. Also in attendance: Selectboard Liaison: Margie Fulcher
Friends of the Fourth member: Kathy Mead,Chamber of Commerce Liaison: Sally Tucker
The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm
The minutes of the June 3, 2010 and the June 10, 2010 meetings were unanimously approved.
1. Friends of the Fourth
• Kathy Mead reported that she,and Pete,have been asked to attend the Eastham Selectboard meeting
on Monday, June 21, 2010 to explain the Friends of the Fourth organization and assure them that
funds collected at the Eastham side of Rock Harbor, during the Fireworks, will be used only for the
fireworks.
• Kathy also reported that a letter was sent from Bruce Ayer also explaining the Mission of The Friends
of the Fourth.
2. Budget
• Margie has pursued trying to get an accurate reading of donations that have come in directed to the 4th
of July Gift Account. She had a copy of the donators and amounts donated,totaling $885.00 as of this
time. All of the donations,except for one,were from local people.
• Margie said that she will be sending thank you notes. The Committee will be doing the same.
3. Trophies
• We have settled on,and ordered, column trophies with stars on the top. The first prize trophies will be
a little taller than the second and third prize trophies. They are being engraved and will be available in
about 2 weeks.
4. Parade
• We have 16 parade entries as of this time(not counting military, bands, dignitaries, etc)
• We are still working on a vehicle for the Selectboard
• Dave will get the decorations and parade day signs from storage in Ken Farrar's building. He will to
check to see if the"Bikes"sign is missing?
• Dave will Put out signs with help from Pete and Wally and will take the signs down after the parade.
• Dave will pick up the signs from Young and Fancy on Monday.
• There is a problem getting someone to hang the banner on Main Street. Margie is going to speak with
John Kelly about it.
• Ingrid will notify Joe Reynolds,the Grand Marshal and Lisa will notify Justin King,the Theme Contest
winner,to be at the Awards Ceremony
• Margie will ask Paul Fulcher to write a short narrative about Joe Reynolds to be read at the Awards
Ceremony
• Kathy is going to ask Ken F.to present the awards at the Awards Ceremony
• Kathy will contact the Milski's about the Craft Fair not parking in the lower lot on Parade Day
• Bonnie will update the Cell Phone List
5. Fireworks
• Dave will arrange for Porta-Potties (4 regular and 1 accessible last year)$300.00/Trash Receptacles
from Nauset Disposal
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday,June 24, 2010 at 5 pm in the Skaket Room of the Orleans Town Hall
The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 pm
