AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FOR THE BOROUGH
OF CARTERET'S HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND CULTURAL CENTER
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") is in need of assistance in
restoring the fanner Carteret Y1\1CAlLibrary building located at 63 Pershing A venue for
use as the Borough's Historical Society and Cultural Center; and
\VHEREAS, this propel1y is currently owned by the Borough and has be unused since
the erection of the, Thomas J. Deverin Community Center & Library in 1-999; and
WHEREAS, this building is in need of both exterior restoration and structural
improvements; and
WHEREAS, this building will be used by the Carteret Historical Committee as a
museum, reference center, meeting place, and cultural and arts facility; and
WHEREAS, the Borough wishes'to make an application to the_State of New Jersey for a
grant in the amount of $75,000.00 for the above referenced improvements.
NO\V, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Borough of Carteret, County of
Middlesex, that the Governing Body hereby approves the application for the 'grant for the
Borough's Historical Society & Cultural Center as detailed herein.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the appropriate ~Borough officials are herby
authorized to enter into and/or execute any and all Grant Agreement and/or similar
documents in furtherance of the grant application detailed herein.
