THIS BILL OF SALE made on this day of January, 2013, between CITY OF CRESTVIEW
(hereinafter "Seller") and MATTHEW PURVINES (heeinafter `Buyer").
WITNESSETH that Seller, in consideration of the transfer of the law enforcement canine known as
"Rex" and in consideration of the premises and the mutual covenants and conditions hereinafter set forth, and
other valuable consideration the parties hereby agree as follows:
1. The Seller shall transfer ownership and possession of the canine known as "Rex"
to the Buyer;
2. The canine known as "Rex" is transferred with no warranties, express or implied;
3. The Buyer accepts the canine known as "Rex" as is, in his present condition and releases
the Seller from all costs associated with any necessary future care including but not limited
to food, supplies, or anything required for his daily care or any medical or dental treatment
if any;
4. Additionally, the Buyer and his heirs, legal representatives, successors and assigns agrees
to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of Crestview, its officers, employees,
agents and representatives, of and from any cause or causes whatsoever, arising from, out
of, in connection with or by reason of any and all damages claimed by anyone for the
canine's ("Rex") activities;
5. Upon transfer of the canine from the Seller to the Buyer, the canine known as "Rex" shall
be retired from law enforcement in his position as a law enforcement canine with the
Seller. Upon retirement, the Buyer will surrender any and all departmentally owned
equipment of the Seller; including the canine badge, leashes, collars, chains, kennel(s),
etc..
6. Upon transfer of the canine from the Seller to the Buyer, all financial compensation
currently being paid to the Buyer as a canine handler of "Rex" shall discontinue and the

Buyer agrees to limit the canine's activities to those customarily identified with domestic pet ownership.
"Seller" and "Buyer" shall be used for singular or plural, natural or artificial, which terms shall
include the heirs, legal representatives, successors and assigns of Seller and Buyer whenever the context
so requires or admits.
