Friends Of The Park, Special Projects, and Old Business
1. Greencastle Civic League's Spray Park Proposal—The park board had a basic
discussion in regards to last month's proposal from the Greencastle Civic League
who wanted to raise funds for a new spray park for the municipal park system.
The board agreed that best location was at the Greencastle Aquatics Center, due to
recent problems with the VGB drain cover requirements and recall, as well as
2012's ADA requirements which have and will make the wading pool obsolete.
Discussions will need to be held further on accessibility by the public from
outside the fences and whether their will be an admission charged for its use
#11% during the normal swim season.

2. 5th Annual National Night Out! — R.Weinschenk gave a quick overview of this
year's 5th Annual National Night Out event. Held on Tuesday, August 2nd this
year's "Smoke Free" event and even though the air temperatures were in the high
90's, drew over 1,000 people to Robe-Ann Park. Free pizza, drinks, hotdogs, and
snow cones were served. Over 360 people took advantage of the free night of
swimming at the Greencastle Aquatics Center.
3. 3rd Annual Movie Night at Robe-Ann Park—A reminder was given, in regards
to the upcoming 3111 Annual Family Movie Night in Robe-Ann Park, which has
been scheduled for Saturday evening, September 17 at Robe-Ann Park. Last year
approximately 500 people attended the event held on the softball field at Robe-
Ann Park. J.Hennette and R.Evans volunteered to sit on a Greencastle Civic
League steering committee.
New Business
Kara Thomas resigns position — Stating personal and professional obligations, long-
standing member Kara Thomas resigned her position on the park board. She stated that
