RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REQUEST FOR CONTRACT AWARD
EXTENSION / HAGAMAN STREET AND SYCAMORE STREET
MUNICIPAL AID - FISCAL YEAR 2000
WHEREAS, on October 26, 1999, the Borough of Carteret received funding
from the New Jersey Department 'of Transportation Municipal Aid Program -
Fiscal Year 2000 for the rehabilitation of Hagaman Street and Sycamore Street
in the amount of $160,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the resulting deadline to award the bid for the construction of said
project was on or about October 6, 2000; and
WHEREAS, on September 15, 2000 the Borough was granted an extension of
time for the award of the construction contract through December 21, 2001; and
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen sewer problems, the Borough will not likely be
able to meet the December 21, 2001 deadline for the award of the construction
contract; and
WHEREAS, the Borough is currently bidding a major sanitary sewer
improvement project which involves work to be completed along Hagaman
Street, between the cross streets of Markowitz Street and Ash Street with the
anticipated corrective sewer work within Hagaman Street to be implemented in
the fall of 2001; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that roadway improvements to Hagaman Street ad
Sycamore Street could proceed in the late Fall of 2001 or early Spring of 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that the
Borough respectfully requests the NJDOT to grant an extension of time to award
the construction for Hagaman Street and Sycamore Street through July, 2002.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution with original
signatures of the Mayor and Borough Clerk along with the Borough Seal, be
forwarded to the NJDOT, District III Office.

August 17th, 2001.
