HomeMy Public PortalAbout2009.115 (06-16-09)RESOLUTION NO. 2009.115 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN DESIGNATED JURISDICTIONS AND THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES RECOVERY ACT JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM AWARD WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is authorized to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") to receive grants under the U.S. Department of Justice, Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant ("JAG") Program administered by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance ("BJA"); and WHEREAS, this MOU is authorized by the Los Angeles City Council and the Mayor of Los Angeles (refer to Council File 09-0648-S5 dated May 22, 2009) and the Jurisdiction's respective governing body (i.e. its City Council and Mayor or Board of Supervisors); and WHEREAS, BJA requires an MOU between the City of Lynwood and City of Los Angeles prior to allocating JAG funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood finds that the performance of the MOU is in the best interests of both parties, that the undertaking will benefit the public, and that the division of costs fairly compensates the performing party for the services or functions under the MOU: and WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles agrees to serve as the applicanUfiscal agent for the JAG funds allocated to the Jurisdiction and to provide the Jurisdiction with the amount of JAG funds approved by BJA for use as approved by BJA under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the "Recovery AcY'); NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above recitals are true and correct. Section 2. The City Council hereby approves the Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") for the receipt of grant funds under the U.S. Department of Justice, Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program administered by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance, provided to the City Council concurrently with this Resolution and authorizes the Mayor to execute the MOU and all documents necessary to implement the MOU. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16`h day of June, 2009.
