Leesburg Offers Free Document Shredding on Saturday,
October 7, 2017
Leesburg, VA (September 21, 2017) – Do you worry about identity theft? Have boxes of
documents with sensitive information you don’t want to put in the trash or recycling bin? The
Town of Leesburg is here to help!
The Leesburg Public Works & Capital Projects Department will host its next free community
document shredding event on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at
Heritage High School (520 Evergreen Mill Road SE, Leesburg). The event will be held rain or
shine. Nearly 10,000 pounds of documents is expected to be shredded on-site by portable
shredding units and then recycled during this event.
Residents (no businesses, please) may bring up to three (3) boxes or bags of documents, each
equivalent in size to a standard file storage box. If all shredding vehicles fill, the event may
close early. For a list of items acceptable for shredding, as well as tips on identity theft
protection, please visit the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/shredevents.
During the shredding event, the Town is partnering with Loudoun Hunger Relief to collect non -
perishable food items. Visit www.loudounhunger.org for a list of most-needed food items.
Donations of gift cards to local area grocery stores also will be accepted. Donations are
encouraged but not required for participation.
