INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES LARRY D. MACKLIN, DIRECTOR Division of Outdoor Recreation 402 W. Washington St., Rm. 271 Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 317-232-4070 January 21, 1998 Dr. Kent Menzel, President Greencastle Park and Recreation Board 405 South Bloomington Street Greencastle, IN 46135 Dear Dr. Menzel: We have reviewed the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Master Plan and are pleased to report that the plan meets the Department of Natural Resources' local planning recommendations for participation in the Division of Outdoor Recreation grant programs. This approval extends through 2002. Your agency will be able to apply for grants under this plan up to April 15, 2003. To apply /'N for grants in 2003, a new five-year master plan should be submitted by January 15th, 2003. We also have on file the ordinance establishing your park board. The park board appears to be legally established under Indiana law and the ordinance will remain on file in the Division of Outdoor Recreation. If the ordinance is amended, please forward the changes to the Division of Outdoor Recreation. The park board may request grant project application packets from the Division of Outdoor Recreation beginning January 1st of each year. Each of the different grant programs has its own rating and approval cycle, so the various application packets will be available throughout each calendar year. We emphasize that competition for funds is usually keen, and the approval of your long range plan does not guarantee funding for applications. The Greencastle Park Board is to be congratulated for its dedication and concern displayed for the future of parks and recreation in your city. Completion of the master plan and its implementation will insure recreation facilities and opportunities for the citizens of Greencastle for many years. If you require further information, do not hesitate to contact us.
