A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC MEASURE TO AUTHORIZE A SUPPORT
LIBRARY LEVY INCREASE FROM $0.10 PER $1000 OF ASSESSED VALUATION
TO $0.27 PER $1000 OF ASSESSED VALUATION FOR THE TIFFIN PUBLIC
LIBRARY
WHEREAS, Chapter 384.12(20) of the Code of Iowa authorizes the imposition of a certain
local tax for, the operation of a public library after an election in which the majority of the
electors vote in the affirmative-, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tiffin declares its intent for the purpose of permitting
the electorate to pass upon the proposition of imposing an increase from $0.10 (cents) to
$0.27 (27 cents) Support Public Library levy according to Chapter 384.12(20) of the Code of
Iowa.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa;
Section 1. The City Council of Tiffin, Iowa, requests the Johnson County Commissioner
of Elections to submit to the voters in Tiffin, Iowa, a proposition to authorize the imposition of
an increase from $0.10 (10 cents) to $0.27 (27 cents) Support Public Library levy in the City of
Tiffin, Johnson County, Iowa, to be effective on July 1, 2020.
Section 2. The reventre from the Support Public IJbr';1ry levy will be allocated to the City
of Tiffin for the purpose of increasing the annual operating budget of the .Tiffin Public I iblary,
Section 3. 1 hat the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to provide a certified
copy of this resolution and the proposed ballot languag() to the County Commissioner of
Elections of Johnson County,
On the 17t" day of September, at a special meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin,
Iowa, Councilperson Havens introduced RESOLUTION NO. 2019-109, A
RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC MEASURE TO AUTHORIZE A SUPPORT
LIBRARY LEVY INCREASE FROM $0.10 PER $1000 OF ASSESSED VALUATION
TO $0.27 PER $1000 OF ASSESSED VALUATION FOR THE TIFFIN PUBLIC
LIBRARY and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Upton.

Nays: None
Absent: Ryan
Whereupon four Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner
declared that the RESOLUTION NO. 2019-109, A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A
PUBLIC MEASURE TO AUTHORIZE A SUPPORT LIBRARY LEVY INCREASE
FROM $0.10 PER $1000 OF ASSESSED VALUATION TO $0.27 PER $1000 OF
ASSESSED VALUATION FOR THE TIFFIN PUBLIC LIBRARY to be adopted and
signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
