A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A WEIGHT EMBARGO ON A PORTION OF NORTH
PARK ROAD
Whereas, the recent weather conditions have caused soft subgrade and surface
conditions to develop on North Park Road; and,
Whereas, approximately 175 ton of rock has been added to the subgrade of North Park
Road in preparation of it being temporarily paved yet this construction season; and,
Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best public interest and welfare to preserve the road
system in the best possible condition prior to it being temporarily paved; and,
Whereas, Sections 321.471, 321.472, and 321.473 of the Code of Iowa provide local
authorities the right to restrict the weight of vehicles,
Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, that an
embargo be authorized on a portion of North Park Road from the Oakhill Elementary
School driveway to the north property line of Lot 1, Simpson First Addition until July 1,
2019. The embargo will restrict all traffic to an 8-ton gross load and the City of Tiffin will
place temporary signs to comply with Section 321.472.
On the 7th day of May, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa,
Councilperson Schnedler introduced RESOLUTION NO. 2019-065, A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING A WEIGHT EMBARGO ON A PORTION OF NORTH PARK ROAD
and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Bartels.
Ayes: Upton, Ryan, Havens, Schnedler, Bartels
Nays: None
Absent: None
Whereupon five Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner
declared that the RESOLUTION NO. 2019-065, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A
WEIGHT EMBARGO ON A PORTION OF NORTH PARK ROAD to be adopted and
signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the City Council on the 7th day of May, 2019.
