Technology Businesses Put Leesburg on the Map
Leesburg-based federal contracting, internet security and data analytics
companies recognized by Washington Business Journal, Washington Technology
and Inc. magazine.
Leesburg, VA (September 29, 2017) – Over the past several years, Leesburg’s technology
business sector has been growing quietly, but steadily. Now, it appears that the sector has
reached a tipping point, solidifying the Town’s reputation as a high-tech, entrepreneurial hub.
Two factors in this growth are the Mason Enterprise Center Loudoun (MEC), located in
downtown Leesburg, and the Leesburg HUBZone. The HUBZone program, part of the U.S. Small
Business Administration, provides federal contract preferences to businesses that locate within
designated zones.
“The combination of the MEC and the HUBZone has been the catalyst Leesburg’s tech sector
needed. Having a business incubator located right in downtown does more than provide
services to certain businesses,” explains Marantha Edwards, the Town’s Economic Development
Director. “It sends a signal to the larger business community that we are a place of innovation
and entrepreneurial spirit.”
That signal is certainly being amplified by the many successes of Leesburg-based technology
businesses. Some examples include:
FedBiz IT (www.fedbizit.com), a HUBZone-certified business, ranked #1 in Washington
Technology’s 2017 Fast 50 list of fastest-growing small business federal contractors for
two consecutive years, thanks to a recent contract award from NASA. FedBiz IT ranked
#50 in the Inc. 5000, which ranks the fastest-growing private companies in America.
Lynker Technologies (www.lynkertech.com) was recently recognized by Washington
Business Journal as one of the area’s fastest growing companies. A member of the MEC
incubator and also HUBZone certified, Lynker ranked #47 in Washington Technology’s
Fast 50 and #1237 in the Inc. 5000.
InfiniSource Consulting Solutions (www.icsfederal.com), a graduate from the MEC
incubator and HUBZone-certified business, ranked #730 in the Inc. 5000.
B3 Group (www.b3groupinc.com) graduated from the MEC incubator to offices in
Leesburg after being awarded, with only 21 other companies, the $22.3 billion Veterans
Affairs T4NG contract. B3 Group ranked #1233 in the Inc. 5000.
PhishMe (www.phishme.com), located at the Village at Leesburg, is a cybersecurity
services firm that ranked #863 in the Inc. 5000 and was named a “Best Places to Work”
by the Washington Business Journal two years in a row.
SecuriGence (www.securigence.com), another cybersecurity services firm, was ranked
#2370 in the Inc. 5000.
According to Lynker Technologies’ president Joe Linza, the company’s growth accelerated when
they located their principal office in Leesburg at the MEC and became a HUBZone business.
“We really benefitted from the support from the Town economic development staff, the MEC,
and the Small Business Development Center,” says Linza. “We are happy to be a part of this
connected and innovative business community.”
“The companies that are growing rapidly in Leesburg have a direct correlation to the
demographics, education level and skill sets in the area.” says Edwards. “It is exciting to see this
sector grow and to see entrepreneurs realize their strengths and become successful.”
