The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on November 20, 2012 at
6:01 p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Mayor Crosby presided.
I. ROLL CALL
Members present: Crosby, Pederson, Martinson and Weir.
Members absent: Siitari
Also present: Assistant to the City Administrator Jodi Gallup, Public Works Director
Steve Scherer, Jim Wollschlager Randy's Environmental Services, Deb Gatz Randy's
Environmental Services, and City Administrator Scott Johnson.
II. Randy's Environmental Services Presentation
Jim Wollschlager provided the City Council with information regarding Randy's
Environmental Services single sort recycling program, Blue Bag Organics program, and
trash removal. The discussion focused on the conversion from a two sort recycling
method to a single sort recycling method. Mr. Wollschlager also discussed the
transition to Randy's Blue Bag Organic recycle program. Council then viewed a short
video on the sorting process at Randy's Environmental Services site in Delano, MN.
The City Council reviewed the terms provided by Randy's Environmental Services and
discussed the possible length of an agreement. Staff was directed to work with Randy's
Environmental Services on 5 and 7 year agreement options.
III. ADJOURN
Mayor Crosby adjourned the Work Session at 6:53 p.m.
