HomeMy Public PortalAbout2012.02.02 Special MinutesMINUTES McCall City Council Special Meeting McCall Water Plant, Conference Room, 1240 Bitterroot Drive February 2, 2012 Agenda Call to Order and Roll Call Consider Proposed Rodeo Event for February 4, 2012 Adjournment CALL TO ORDER „AND ROLL CALL Mayor Bailey called the special meeting of the McCall City Council to order at 1:03 p.m. Mayor Bailey, Council Member Scott, Council Member Swanson and Council Member Witte answered roll call. Council Member Aymon was absent. City staff present was Lindley Kirkpatrick, City Manager; Jerry Summers, Chief of Police, Peter Borner, Public Works Director, Rick Scherette, Street Superintendent and BessieJo Wagner, City Clerk. 'EN SESSION. AB 12-28 "Mile Hi Bucking Bulls" Event Request Lindley Kirkpatrick, City Manager, indicated that the Mile Hi Bucking Bulls, a company out of Donnelly, had an advertised event planned for the second weekend of Winter Carnival, February 4, 2012. The original location fell through at the last minute. They were requesting the use of the public parking area behind City Hall for their event. The event would primarily feature bull riding. They worked with The Chamber of Commerce, the Public Works Department, the Police Department and the City Manager to determine if the location would be viable for their event. The charge would be $10 for each spectator that sits in the bleachers and $5 for those that were standing. The Chamber of Commerce worked out the details of the event. Mr. Kirkpatrick provided Council with: • Proof of insurance • A brief event plan • Hawkers license application He stated that staff proposed charging the $200 Hawkers and 5% of the event's profits. A brief discussion occurred regarding possible rider injuries and the impact of winter conditions. Council Member Witte voiced concern that all riders be made aware of the environment they would be riding in. Discussion also occurred regarding insurance, sales tax and the possibility of a loose bull. McCall City Council Special Meeting Page 1 of 2 November 28, 2011 Mayor Bailey moved to approve the "Mile Hi Bucking Bulls" event request, with Mile Hi Bucking Bulls paying the City a $200 Hawkers fee and 5% of the event's profits, contingent on the City Attorney verifying liability insurance coverage. Council Member Swanson seconded the motion. In a roll call vote, Mayor Bailey, Council Member Swanson, Council Member Scott and Council Member Witte all voted aye and the motion carried.
