All Ayes. y claims Special Park Use Requests Building off of last month's proposal by Ted Kissel to create mountain bike trails at Jaycee Park, cycling enthusiast Tom Standers from the Greencastle Cycling Club requested permission to design and create multi-use trails at Jaycee Park for not only mountain bike interests, but for Cyclo-Cross, running enthusiasts, as Mr. Standers was supported in the audience by members ofththe Greencastle Cy ling Club, Greencastle Running and Fitness Club, and an area Geocacher's Club. g Mr. Standers stated that he and John Paul, Christina Paul, Steve Williamson and Ted Kissel met with Director R.Weinschenk and formed the Jaycee Park Trails Committee. They have recruited a number of volunteers from organizations with as many as 190 members who could all lend a hand on future work days. With a pool of this many volunteers, a multi-use trail could be laid out and cleared in a weekend. New Park Maintenance Supervisor — Justin Eubank was hired as the new Park Maintenance Supervisor and has a background in yard maintenance and a personal interest in Christmas decorations which were very helpful for the department's "Light the Park"event. o. Robe-Ann Park Improvement Project — Following Masten, Emily Knuth and Jeannie Pope from the Greencastle Civic League the City of Greencastle Board of Park Commissioners applied for Land & Water Conservation Fund monies for improvements to Robe-Ann Park. The proposal included a Splash Park, Tennis Court Resurfacing, Basketball Court, Meditation/Quiet Area with Bench. We have received unofficial word that our project looked good but are awaiting word from the federal level. $400,000.00 + improvement project to the municipal park system. The parks & recreation department will have to potentially fund approximately $50,000 for tennis court improvements. 2. 2013 Fiscal Year Goals a. Park Board Suggestions —After an inquiry from Director R.Weinschenk, the board members offered the following suggestions: 0 Park Board Growth—Not a goal, but more o f an inquiry, B.Miller asked whether the growth in the City Council in. n 2015 will affect the parIN k board, as well.
