Splash Park Update
Director R.Weinschenk updated the board on the Splash Park bid opening held earlier in
the day. Two bids were received on the splash park, both which came in above the
engineers' estimates. Those bids were received from:
1. Trisler Construction $429,387.00
2. R. L. Turner $387,000.00
Weinschenk explained that some items could be separated out from the splash park
project and done with other park funding, while others may be eliminated or funded
differently. We will hold budget discussions over the next week, which will culminate
with a special park board meeting on Thursday, March 13, to award the project and issue
a notice to proceed.
New Business
1. Sewer Issues
a. Park House & Administration Building Lateral — Director R.Weinschenk
informed the board that the sewer line which serves both the parkhouse and
administration building backed up into the lower bathroom. At an estimated
$10,000.00, the repairs have started and should be completed soon.
b. BWSP Little League Lateral — Following an inspection of the lift station
located in the center of BWSP by the Greencastle Utility Department we
were notified that the Little League sewer lateral will need to be dug ups and
repaired. Ground water is infiltrating the system and over whelming the lift
station, which is affecting a lift station downstream. Early estimates are
approximately$1,200.00.
c. Approval — Both projects were approve by the board on a motion fro
T.Trigg, second by B.Miller. All Ayes. m
2. 2014 Program & Event Guide— Director R.Weinschenk presented a rough draft of
this year's annual program & event guide for the board's quick reference. He also
provided a list of proposed programs as requested by the state board of accounts (see
attachment). Discussion included:
a. Learn To Swim Program — Director R.Weinschenk, along with Assistant
Director T.Scott, led discussion of experimenting with the first session of
Learn To Swim Lessons, moving them from a morning schedule to afternoon.
The time slot hasn't been widely attended due to the lower temperatures, so
we are hoping the afternoon times would attract more attendees. On a motion
from T.Trigg, second by C.Merrell, the Learn-To-Swim time change was
approved. All Ayes.
b. Program List - Director R.Weinschenk reviewed the list of proposed
programs and fees as outlined in the 2014 brochure. On a motion from
B.Miller, second by T.Trigg, the annual brochure, list of programs and prices
was approved. All Ayes.

1_ Director's Report — Director R.Weinschenk reviewed happenings in the park form
the last month.
