Valley County Economic Development Council Request for Funds Discussion
City Manager Nate Coyle reported on the meeting with Sherry Maupin, Valley County Economic
Development Council (VCEDC) who is requesting funds from the different local cities and the
County to put towards the expense of their new Director. Manager Coyle covered the budget numbers
and allocation model used to determine what each city should contribute. VCEDC has requested
$9800 from the City of McCall, which is based on a property values model. The Council discussed
the request and its value to the City of McCall. The consensus was not a regular annual contribution
but rather the amount to be determined year to year. All felt that participation is necessary but the
City already has a Community Economic Development team and so what would the partnership bring
to the City of McCall. Council further discussed how much financial support should be given, how

those funds should be used, and what will be the return for those funds. A few different funding
options were brought up as well as reporting parameters.
The general Council consensus was to dedicate $5,000 for a grant match that would provide a benefit
to McCall with City staff collaboration with the VCEDC Executive Director to find grants, and to
require a better strategy plan with a report at the end of the year of what was accomplished with those
funds, all pending on Council's approval and legal review.
