HomeMy Public PortalAbout2017.10.27 Special Minutes MINUTES McCall City Council SpecialMeeting McCall City Hall --Legion Hall October 27, 2017 Call to Order and Roll Call Pledge of Allegiance Presentations Adjournment CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Mayor Aymon called the special meeting of the McCall City Council to order at 9:00a.m. Mayor Aymon, Council Member Giles, Council Member Holmes, Council Member Nielsen, and Council Member Witte all answered roll call. City staff members present were BessieJo Wagner, Interim City Manager/City Clerk;Meg Lojek, Library Director; John Powell, Building Official Others present from the Historic Preservation Commission were Gary Thompson, former member Brian Corcoran, and former staff liaison Carol Coyle. PRESENTATIONS AB 17-243 Request to Present a Certificate of Appreciation to Noah Walgren for his donation of a Carved Wooden Owl Statue as Public Art to the McCall City Library Noah Walgren studied wood carving with his mentor John Schultz for his senior project at McCall- Donnelly High School. He planned the project with the City’s Public Arts Committee, Parks and Rec, and Library departments and thendonated his creation to the McCall City Library. The art is installed in the library front lawn and is a wonderful addition to our community. The Mayor, on behalf of the City of McCall expressed her appreciation toNoah Walgren for his creativity, planning, and hard work to complete a great senior project and for donating itto the Library for the community to enjoy. Mayor Aymon presented a certificate of appreciation to Noah Walgren. AB 17-244 McCall History DVD Presentation Carol Coyle gave a brief introduction and explanation on how the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) has done a tremendous amount of research and writing about the local history of McCall. The HPC established the interpretive signs at Legacy, provided some of the information forCentennial Park, researched and designed the railroad sign near SRB, and edited the new Rotary Park signs about evolution of Lardo Bridge. Since the HPC had this wealth of information from previous projects they decided several years ago to compile it into a short DVD production McCall City Council Special MeetingPage 1of 2 October 27, 2017
