Minutes of the Special Meeting — Board Retreat
Thursday, January 16, 2012
Present: President Dr. John Hennette, Beva Miller and Kyle Kerrigan
Also Present: Suzanne Masten&Emily Knuth- Greencastle Civic League, Assistant
Director Troy Scott and Parks & Recreation Director Rod Weinschenk
Call to Order
The evening's meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by President J.Hennette and held
in the Greencastle City Hall.
Public Input—None
Board Retreat
1. Greencastle Economic Development Area — Memo dated: January 11, 2012 —
Director R.Weinschenk reviewed the document with the park board.
2. Joint Discussion In Regards to Spray Park with Greencastle Civic League — the
park board met with Civic League representative members S.Masten and E.Knuth. A
majority of the conversation dealt with sharing goals for the project and drafting a
"Letter of Understanding" which will spell out each organization's goals and
expectations for the project. Board President J.Hennette will send a follow up letter
with addressing some of the discussion points, as well as some additional questions.
3. Discuss & Establish Fiscal Year 2012 Departmental Goals—The park board stated
that the number one goal for 2012 will be Greencastle Civic League's Spray Park
Project. The list that Director R.Weinschenk was then accepted.
4. City Council / Board Retreat — Director R.Weinschenk invited all members to
attend the City Council / Park Department Retreat that has been scheduled for
Thursday, January 19, at 8:30 p.m. in the Greencastle City Council room.
Adjournment
On a motion from T.Trigg, second by K.Thomas, the special park board retreat was
adjourned at 9:32 p.m. All Ayes.
