Adjournment • w • • 4110 Greencastle Board of Park Commissioners Minutes of the Regular Meeting Thursday, June 11, 2018 Present: President Tim Trigg, Vice President Dr. John Hennette, Secretary Cathy Merrell, Absent: Beva Miller, Community School Corporation liaison Michael Scott, City Council liaison Steve Fields, Putnam County Public Library liaison David Taylor Also Present: Nora Baker & Jessica Saucerman, Girls Youth Softball representative Becky Hunsinger, Eric Bernsee - Banner Graphic, Parks & Recreation Director Rod Weinschenk Call to Order The regular meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Tim Trigg at Micaela Cancilla Park. Recognition of Donation Mrs. Nora Baker, wife to Glenn Baker, and her granddaughter Jessica Saucerman were in attendance to present the Baker Septic Services donation of two shaded benches to our • newest park, Micaela Cancilla Park. Mrs. Baker presented a check to cover the purchase of the two benches. The board was very grateful and expressed their gratitude toward the addition to the park. Public Input Mrs. Becky Hunsinger, with Girls Youth Softball was present to request the possible use of the Greencastle Aquatics Center and Robe-Ann Park on Saturday morning, August 11`h for a Triathlon fundraiser. Registration would begin at 7:00 a.m., with the event starting at 8:00 a.m. The swim portion would be held at the aquatics center, then a bicycle trip to BWSP and back, and finish with a 5K run following the Rokicki 5K route through DePauw campus. The park board asked for a Certificate of Liability Insurance listing the City of Greencastle as an additional insured, agreed on a rental fee of$85.00, requested being listed as an event sponsor, and requested an update on Thursday, July 5th. On a motion by John Hennette, second by Cathy Merrell, the motion passed "All Ayes". Approval of Minutes — Director R.Weinschenk presented minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, May 3, 2018. The minutes were accepted on a motion from J.Hennette, second by C.Merrell. All Ayes. Approval of Monthly Claims & Invoices - Director R.Weinschenk presented the monthly claims and invoices to the board. There was discussion in regards to the Dixie Chopper mower purchase covered by an insurance claim. On a motion from J.Hennette, second by C.Merrell the monthly claims were approved as presented. All Ayes. 1 Coed Softball Fees Director R.Weinschenk updated the board on the summer softball program. Due to the 410 lack of interest in the men's and women's softball programs, he has gathered teams and will conduct a coed softball program—not to replace the fall coed softball program—at a fee of $380 per team. On a motion from John Hennette, second by Cathy Merrrell the board approved the change and new fee. All Ayes. Director's Report 1. Bob Flanigan Bandshell—Director R.Weinschenk was asked about the band shelter project and July 4th. He reported that the shelter will not be finished by July 4th; however, and with the blessing of the State of Indiana Dept. of Homeland Security [State of Indiana Fire Marshall] it should be far enough along to utilize the completed base for the concert presentations. It looks great now, he can't wait to see the completed project. 2. Pacific & Eastern Model Railroad Club—Working through Putnam County Museum board member David Zeiner and Museum Director Lisa Mock,the P & E is has set up a temporary display in the community room of the Putnam County Museum. Director R.Weinschenk presented a copy of the P & E newsletter for their review. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the Greencastle Board of Park Commissioners will be held on Thursday evening, July 5th, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Greencastle City Hall. tri Adjournment On a motion from C.Merrell, second by B.Miller, the park board meeting was adjourned at 7:52 p.m. All Ayes.
